Both parties say their VP candidates won
A record 57 million people were expected to tune-in to the vice presidential debate. And folks in the Treasure Valley made sure not to miss it.
It's the battle at the bar. In one corner the Barackatini, the other the McCainapolitan.
But the tally race over drinks at Franco Latino in Eagle took a backseat Thursday night as a number of democratic supporters were more interested in watching the battle on TV.
"I think Joe Biden has definitely won the debate. I think that's very clear, he's much more informed," said Chuck Davis, an Obama-Biden supporter.
Political experts said Democrat VP candidate Joe Biden had a tough job during the debate. He needed to challenge opponent Sarah Palin without sounding condescending. Robyn Greer says he delivered.
"Biden has done an excellent job. I've been very impressed with his discussions and his explanation of issues," said Greer.
But if you ask a group of republican supporters across town, in Meridian, they had a different take on Thursday's debate.
"I see Biden with the same old politic rhetoric, beating around the bush not answering questions and I see Sarah Palin has put him back on his heels, put him on the defense," said Mary Veldhouse, a McCain-Palin supporter.
In a recent AP poll only 25 percent of voters surveyed said Palin had the experience needed to be president but Sarah Skeem believes that could change now.
"She's definitely held her own. She's held his feet to the fire. There have been a few times that she's made some really good points that he hasn't been able to respond to," said Skeem.
Both sides say thing they can agree on at least one thing from Thursday night- the role the economy played in debate from both Palin and Biden.
"They're on target with talking about the economy because that's what is upper most in all of our minds right now," said Veldhouse.
