Then blog your reactions. Some questions to consider:
1. Should the Gap improve their working conditions?
2. Should the Indian government claim greater responsibility?
3. Are consumers (at least partly) to blame?
4. Are there any alternatives to consumer items produced in sweatshops? OR -- as consumers, is there anything we can do to challenge these practices?
Assignment Guidelines:
1. The "Questions to Consider" are potential questions: you are not tied down to them. Any thoughtful responses are encouraged.
2. Respond to other posts respectfully. If you are in agreement, or impressed by a particular comment, you might want to mention that. It is also fine to get fired up. Just don't insult your fellow bloggers, nor use profanity.
3. Responses are required of all students. The more thoughtful and analytical, the better. Simply restating the question earns you very little credit. Don't be afraid to ask tough questions, nor challenge your virtual neighbors.
4. Remember, I may interject now and then. But what's most important is the work you put into it as a class.
5. Research is encouraged. You may choose to provide links to other sites, PROVIDED they are legitimate ones (ie; well-documented sources, etc).
Keys to success:
1. Active engagement with your virtual neighbors.
2. Whenever possible, be creative and original!
